A frank discussion and some reasons why benzodiazepines ( valium, xanax, klonopin, ativan) are dangerous by DOCTOROFMINDMD.

Any reason I can’t get benzos or xanax to control anxiety, drugs that
have proven to work without any serious side effects other than
addiction, [unless the patient is a dumbshit and doesn’t know how
to use the drug] and instead I have to get Buspar which makes me
feel terrible and full of lead weights, and which effects my
focus just as much or more than benzos or xanax did?
Is this because doctors have a guilt complex about the
pleasure principle? Because they don’t want to prescribe
a pill that has a side effect of making you feel good?
Is this what it is really about?
What if a weird side effect from long term Buspar use comes
up, then what then? Where is the guilt complex then? It’s
just my primary care doctor has this red flag about benzos
for some reason, like he is a damn monk or something. I
think he expects me to just run out and do tai chi and fix it
myself. He has that smug crap rose colored glasses thing
that some GPs have. I mean do I have to throw a fit in the
waiting room to prove a point or something? He is so convinced
that benzos ‘interfere with how you think’ but buspar doesn’t,
and I bet he has done neither. Or maybe just go to halderol
and skip over the feel good pill. WHO CARES if a pill makes
you FEEL GOOD as a side effect. YOU DIE ANYWAY
eventually. SO WHAT.
Ativan is one of the most terrible drugs I think i was in inpatient i only
gave me 3 or 4 ativan the time I was there when i God out of the hospital i
was fine but when I got home i was hearing voices and can not stay still i
will ever take Advan again
antihistamines to treat anxiety. classic. oh and anti-seizure medicine like
gabbapentin lololol you whackjob.
I agree with you on some points, but after trying all types of
anti-psychotics (atypicals etc) all antidepressants from Tolvon,
mirtazepine, Citalopram to Escitalopram, Pregabalin and many more in every
category. I started on oxazepam to diazepam to nitrazepam etcetc, the ONLY
med that works for me is Clonazepam. I can take two 2mg tablets daily, and
my GP (with a specializiation in medicine) made sure we tried EVERYTHING
other than benzodiazepines beforehand. I’ve struggled since i can rember,
insomnia, agrophobia PTSD (violence in the home as a child, plus i was
almost killed by a guy with a knife, severed all the tendons and nerves in
my right hand) We came to the conclusion that 4mgs of clonazepam did the
trick, there was no other option. Now i am on: Clonazepam, Sarotex for
nerve injury even though it is an old tricyclic antidepressant (it works,
amazingly well for neuropathic pain actually) and Tolvon, though i do not
use it anymore. Point being, you should include that in SOME cases
benzodiazepines can be GREAT, it’s in my case the lesser of two evils. I
enjoy your vids alot, but don’t condemn the people that basicly need them
to live a normal life, not due to addiction, but due to the circumstances
that they are in. I never discovered happiness until i got the
clonazepam.EDIT to say: i’ve been on clonazepam for 4 years now, they still
work with the same dosage,
New update I was in the ER 2 times for panic attacks i am on klonopin
zyprexa risperidone klonopin 1 when I wake up 0.50 mgs and later in the day
0.50 MGS and when I go to sleep 0.50 mgs zyprexa 5 milligram before I go to
sleep risperidone 1 milligram in the morning one milligram before I go to
sleep and wellbutrin 150 milligrams Sr before I go to sleep
You honestly look like a heroin-addicted Carrot Top haha, but all jokes
aside Doctor, I’ve been on Ativan (0.5mg) for about a day and a half now
because I had a really bad panic/anxiety attack from mixing too much of my
Seroquel with alcohol. (I usually take 25mg a day, and 50mg at night, but I
made the stupid mistake to even it out with 50mg a day, and 50mg at night)
and it had a terrible mix with just the ONE beer I drank. This Ativan has
been really helping me stay calm and collected, and I now learned a lesson
to never double my dose, drink any alcohol, or mix any hard drugs while on
this medication. Thank you for your support.
P.S.: I’m currently on 0.6mg of Clonidine and 50mg of Seroquel for sleeping
at night, and I take 10mg of Cipralex along with 25mg of Seroquel every
morning when I wake up, along with the 0.5mg of Ativan, whilst I take the
Ativan 3 times a day.
Also you should do a video on how different benzodiazepines work
differently from individual to individual. There is a reason why we have
many to choose from.
GET OFF THE BENZO
Mmmh I literally feel like I just grew a extra chromosome listening to this
guy… holy fuck.
I’m so fkn scared
Take care brush your hair
Hahaha, good luck he says. Thank god im not on benzo’s. If i wasnt already
scared of that stuff then now im defenetly sure i stay miles away from it;)
Dr. Doctor, I just love you’re video’s.
I’m getting off of Ativan.
My Psychiatrist is helping me.
I was taking 2 mg at night.
Now, I’m taking 1 mg. I LOVE you, DOC!!!! …….Amber
OK since there is talk about benzos and opiates I need one more post.
Friend of mine had a doc who just keeps adding stuff, friend takes maybe 50
pills a day, some are for diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol but the
rest are Oxycodone, hefty dosage of Xanax and one of those druggy muscle
relaxants (don’t know the name). Also he is on Cymbalta. Oh yea and Ambien
too and probably more that I don’t know about. As things were upped through
the years and meds added on, my friend’s reasoning skills went out the
window and also he has no motivation and the worst, very poor memory. Not
like me, I might forget whom I told what and annoying crap. His is on a
totally different level. If we haven’t met mutual friends for a while he
forgets they ever existed. He is losing the narrative of his own life. He
doesn’t remember things from just yesterday. Doesn’t know what he had for
breakfast. Forgot how to do simple things. Has to have a carer with him
several hours a day. How on earth are docs allowed to put people on 50
pills a day several of them interacting? And then shrug and say he just
needs to learn to live with his poor memory?? Friend also put on 150 pounds
due to severe inactivity. Doc says it’s not the meds so my friend thinks
it’s not the meds, but I think it’s sooooo the meds. Doc had him on Lyrica
on top of this, but friend just stumbled around and fell over things all
the time and could not speak, so he was convinced by a friend not to take
it. I want to report the doc but am told it’s no use.
Dr you are right you cant do therapy on Benzos
i can`t get off from Ambien ,taking 20 pills a day for 5 years don`t know
what to do
I tried Buspar for anxiety. Side effects. I can tapper off Benzos, no
problem. Trouble is the anxiety is still there, so I end up taking it
hey mark does promazine cause brain damage long term?
i know there is a risk of dyskanesia but what about brain damage?
nice hair do by the way =]
Do not mix with alcohol. We have too much to be thankful for. :)
I’m a low to medium dosage Xanax user. My issue is not addiction but these
pills are giving me the dumbs. Mainly by affecting memory, not to a huge
degree, but I’m somewhat of a memory master so it eats away a little of
what is me. If this trend goes on I will only be of average intelligence
which is a pretty disgusting outcome. So yea, I’m lowering my dosage even
if coming off completely is not a real option. Now for the real weirdness.
It took me years of basically daily use to develop anything similar to
withdrawals if I miss a bunch of days, and also taken only once a day
without any problem. My withdrawals are atypical (like a smaller silent
migraine attack), also they stop with a dosage of Ritalin. Ritalin should
NOT in my book stop Xanax withdrawals but does. (I take Ritalin PRN.) If
anyone can explain, please do.
DOTM in your written discription: “are dangerous”, or could be dangerous
?. I have had no issues with a small benzo prescription per year ( 40
tablets), in fact in very bad mental health times it really improved my
well-being and functioning. Agree with your warning signs in your video
though, but it seem your about cronic use and/or abuse, mixing with other
medications or illegal drugs. Its great you can find alt to benzo for
someone that wants long term medication, but what about people with under
medication compliance issues who only want to take medication at crisis
point/ when things get bad ?, yes its not an ideal situation…..but. Of
these long term drugs you talk about the ones I tried many have awful
side-effects, quetiapine seems to last well into the next day and makes me
foggy ( and seems to have more warnings than Zopiclone and Eszopiclone), I
would prefer a short term or controlled longer term ( max 3 days a week –
Doctor monitored) precription for a z-drug. The orexin receptor antagonists
drugs look promising though.
OH MY SWEET SWEET DOCTOR OF MIND….ANOTHER INSIGHTFUL VIDEO…PS – I LOVE
LOVE LOVE THAT LITTLE LAUGH YOU DID AT THE VERY END…YOU CRACK ME UP.
